Autism Awareness

Understanding Autism

More and more people are starting to focus on non-visible disabilities. We often get asked to provide businesses with information about Autism.

Often, during our disability awareness training courses we ask people to take 60 seconds and draw the first thing that comes to their mind when they think about the term disability. More often than not people create a picture of a person using a wheelchair.

We appear to have become conditioned to think of disabilities as purely being a person who uses a wheelchair.

Placing greater emphasis on non-visible disabilities is extremely important, encouraging individuals to consider disability as something broader than people who use wheelchairs can only be beneficial.

The National Autistic Society is a fantastic website for those looking to find out more about Autism.

Visit the National Autistic Society website for further details.

Autism is a lifelong, developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and how they experience the world around them.

Thanks to the National Autistic Society we have given you access to this fantastic explainer video.
