Disabled urged to contact experts for help in finding job

JOBLESS disabled people are being urged to contact a charity to get advice on finding work.

Derby-based Sight ED helps businesses learn how to support disabled staff and clients.

After unemployment figures hit nearly 8,000 in Derby city centre alone, the charity is encouraging people with disabilities to come forward if they are struggling to find work.

Richard Shakespeare, who applied for almost 2,000 jobs unsuccessfully after being made redundant from internet bank Egg, works with the charity.

Richard, who suffers from cerebral palsy, is now an independent consultant advising businesses on disability issues.

Together with Sight Ed manager Alan McConville, they are now providing support to disabled people who are having problems finding employment.
